Rules & Regulations
To maintain a conducive environment for learning and ensure the proper use of library resources, the following rules and regulations must be observed:
General Rules
- Admission
- Entry to the library is restricted to students, faculty, and staff of the college with valid ID cards.
- Visitors require prior permission from the librarian or authority.
- Silence and Discipline
- Silence must be maintained inside the library.
- Mobile phones should be on silent mode or switched off. Calls are not allowed in the reading areas.
- Behavior
- Eating, drinking (except water), and smoking are strictly prohibited in the library.
- Users must behave respectfully towards library staff and other patrons.
Usage of Resources
- Borrowing Privileges
- Borrowing is limited to registered members with valid library cards.
- The number of items and borrowing period depend on membership type (student, faculty, etc.).
- Returns and Renewals
- Items must be returned on or before the due date.
- Renewals are subject to demand and the absence of pending fines.
- Handling of Books
- Borrowers must keep books in good condition.
- Making marks, writing with pen/pencil, tearing or taking out pages, or damaging books in any form is prohibited and will be treated as damage to library property.
- Users responsible for damage must replace the book or pay the cost of replacement as determined by the library.
- Loss or Damage
- Lost books must be reported immediately, and borrowers must either replace the book or compensate for its cost.
- Duplicate Library cum Identity Cards will be issued upon payment of ₹50 and submission of a First Information Report (FIR) copy.
- Reference Materials
- Reference books, journals, and rare collections must not be taken out of the library.
- Digital Resources
- Computers and internet facilities should be used strictly for academic purposes.
- Altering the settings or display configurations of library computers is not permitted.
- Users must not disconnect or tamper with computer cables, network connections, or any other equipment and accessories in the library.
Library Hours
- The library operates during specified hours, which may vary during exams or holidays.
- Users are expected to exit the library by closing time.
Fines and Penalties
- Overdue Fines
- Fines are levied for late returns. Continued default may result in suspension of borrowing privileges.
- Misconduct Penalties
- Users found violating rules or damaging property may face disciplinary action, including suspension of library access.
Library Clearance and Dues
- No Dues Certificate
- Students and faculty members must clear all dues from the library when leaving the college.
- A ‘No Dues’ certificate will be issued only after the return of all issued library documents, payment of any dues, and submission of the Library cum Identity Card.
Additional Rules
- Personal Belongings
- Bags and personal items should be left in the designated area. Only notebooks and essential materials are allowed inside.
- The library is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Feedback and Suggestions
- Users are encouraged to share feedback or suggestions to improve library services.
Changes to Rules
- The library reserves the right to amend its rules. Notices of changes will be displayed on the library notice board.
By adhering to these rules, users can ensure a positive and productive library experience for everyone.
