2008-09 (General)

The department of Bengali has been working continuously since its inception to explore and expand human resource in its multifarious potentiality and manifestation by various ways of learning and Intellectual activities. Apart from its heavy academic focus and activities the department has organised special lectures and student seminars not only on conventional issues of literature, but also in many niche areas beyond the prescribed syllabus of different courses. The department offers both Honours/Major and Programme courses under the CBCS and NEP curriculum. The objective of the department is not only to make students think differently, but also to groom them in the way that enables them to connect the classroom with outer world, a knowledge of literature with real life. The department has ceaselessly produced students whose brilliance of merit is reflected not only by the consistent good results of the Department every year, but also from the fact that they have found their careers in various walks of life.

Offered Courses

The department provides

Honours/Major Courses: Designed for students aiming to specialise in Bengali literature with an in-depth and critical approach.
Programme Courses: Tailored for a broader audience, integrating Bengali studies with other academic disciplines.
Both courses adhere to the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) and the National Education Policy (NEP) prescribed by the University of North Bengal under the guidelines of the UGC, ensuring a flexible and contemporary curriculum.
