Eligibility Criteria

For WBCHSE and other Boards, a candidate must pass (10+2) at least four subjects including English as compulsory subject.

Admission to all B.A Major courses will be based strictly on merit. Merit shall be calculated as per the following norms

Merit = {Marks obtained in English+Marks obtained in the subject opted for Major+best marks of other two subjects [excluding the subject opted for Major and English]} /4

If the Student does not have the specific subject opted for Major in his/her previous Course, the procedure for Merit Calculation will be as follows :

Merit = {Marks obtained in English+Best marks obtained in other three subjects} /4.

A candidate will be allowed to take up Bengali, English, History, Hindi, Political Science & Geography subject if he/she/ transgender has passed the same at the qualifying examination. A candidate will be allowed to take up Sociology or Education, if he/she/transgender has passed in the previous qualifying examination of any stream.
Note: A candidate will be allowed to pursue a maximum of Three Year under a Major Course if he/she/transgender has passed the qualifying Examination in Vocational Stream subjects.

Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC) (any three from the following, excluding courses belonging to the group of the Major and / or Minor subjects chosen and excluding those courses already undergone at the Higher Secondary Level (12th) class): one each to be chosen from each Semester-wise pool of courses.
