About the college
Munshi Premchand Mahavidyalaya was established in the year 2008 with a vision to foster academic engagement and upliftment of the students around the Sevoke Road area of Siliguri, as well as to address the growing demand for higher education in the region. The college is centrally located near Sevoke Road, Siliguri, and made higher education at the undergraduate accessible to a large population of Siliguri, as well as is well connected by road for access to students from nearby towns and villages. Due to its location, the college also shares proximity to the international Indo-Nepal border, and to a large segment of the hill and Dooars regions. The college embarked its just journey with 243 students and a number of guest and part-time teachers in Siliguri Shewmangal Memorial Hindi High School.
Our college is affiliated to the University of North Bengal with an accreditation of 12 (b) by the University Grants Commission. It abides by the University guidelines for all curricular and co-curricular transactions. The college provides courses like B.A. Honours and B.A. Programme under the CBCS framework, and has recently initiated the Four-Year Under-Graduate Program under the New Education Policy offering Major courses in 8 subjects. Apart from the curricular aspects, the college also has functioning and active NCC and NSS units. We have a well-equipped library which is accessible to all the students, and it has been partially automated to allow better accessibility. Besides this, our college is the first in the region to introduce smart card feature where the students are able to use their college identity card as their library card as well. Free wi-fi facilities are also provided to the students for better access and enhancement of knowledge through various e-resources.

Our college emphasises on all round development of students and provides different opportunities to bring out their innate abilities by organising or supporting activities like Youth Parliament, Annual Sports, Basanta Utsav and render various social services to the adjacent areas, especially through extension activities such as NSS. Munshi Premchand Mahavidyalaya’s N.S.S. Unit and N.C.C. Unit have made its mark. The College has a dedicated group of teaching and non-teaching members who always strive to become a support system and provide a solid platform for students to achieve their aims and ambitions.
